About Token Atlas

An independent education desk for people who are new to investing.

#What is Token Atlas?

Token Atlas explains how investing works — stocks, funds, bonds, markets, retirement accounts and the basics of personal finance — for people starting from zero. Every explainer answers its question in the first few lines, then shows the mechanics with tables, diagrams and worked examples that are calculated in code rather than in our heads.

The name comes from an old idea: a share is a token of ownership in a business. The atlas is the map of how those tokens, and the markets they trade in, fit together.

#Who writes it?

Pages are researched and written by the Token Atlas Editorial Desk. We do not invent bylines or credentials. Each page lists the primary sources it relies on, and our editorial policy and checking process explain how a page gets from draft to published.

#What do we not do?

  • We do not tell you what to buy or sell, and we do not rate or rank funds, brokers or stocks.
  • We do not show live prices or market forecasts.
  • We do not run ads, affiliate links or sponsored content — see how we are funded.
  • We do not collect personal data beyond what you choose to send through the contact form.

#Where does the content come from?

Numbers and rules come from primary sources: the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Investor.gov, FINRA, SIPC, the IRS, TreasuryDirect, the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the index providers' own methodology documents. Where a rule is specific to the United States, the page says so and names the year it applies to.

#How can you reach us?
